The officers and directors of the Eugene V. Debs Foundation are pleased to announce that on Saturday, October 28, 2023, the Debs Award will be presented to Lynne Fox, the International President of Workers United and the leader of the Starbucks Workers United organizing campaign.
Lynne Fox is highly skilled with years of experience organizing workers in a wide range of industries. The Starbucks employees are seeking better wages and benefits and hundreds of their workplaces have been organized. The highest-ranking officers of Starbucks have resisted in every way the priorities of the workers’ campaign.
The strength and determination of the Starbucks Workers United campaign is reflected in the activities of its workplace organizers. It also has encouraged other workers to fight for political and social freedom and economic justice.
The Award Banquet will take place in Terre Haute, Indiana, the birthplace and lifelong home of Gene Debs and his home now is an outstanding museum of trade union and socialist memorabilia. For information of the events planned for the weekend please go to our website: debsfoundation.org.

DJ Buddha Brown (Alfred Brown) will be providing our musical presentation for this year’s awards banquet. Son of APRI’s esteemed president Clayola Brown, he is originally from Queens, NY and currently resides in Washington, DC, where he works at the APRI National Office.
